Technical Details

CDJ-2000 NEXUS VS. NEW CDJ-2000 NEXUS-2

  • Better Sound: A 96 kHz/24-bit sound card is built into the unit, with a 32-bit D/A converter and improved digital out to really give the best possible sound for this high-end CDJ. They’ve even separated the power supply to reduce noise issues.
  • Better Sound File Support: FLAC and ALAC support, at last!

CDJ-2000NXS2's new color touch screen showing Track Filter

  • Color Touch Screen: a 7-inch touch screen like on the XDJ-1000s. You can use it to trigger a new track filter mod to filter by metadata, type in a search on the QWERTY keyboard, and more.
  • 8 Color Coded Hot Cues: They’ve increased the Hot Cue section to four buttons (two banks) and color-coded them to match what you have set up in Rekordbox. They can also be named in Rekordbox!

CDJ2000NXS2-and-DDJ-SP1-midi-support

  • MIDI control: Finally the DDJ-SP1 has a use in a pro setup – it can be connected to a CDJ setup to control up to 4 CDJ-2000NXS2s with Pro DJ Link activated. This means quicker cue, loop, slip, and browsing  and MUCH BETTER pads to play cue points with than CDJ users have ever had. Now all we need is Midi Fighter support…..
  • Fractional Quantize: allowing you to change what level of beat quantization you use – between 1/8, 1/4, 1/2
  • Pro DJ Link Update: An improved Phase Meter with two modes, beatgrids now accurate to the microsecond, and a quantized beat jump. The press release only mentions beat jump for 1 beat forward or backward – we’re hoping this isn’t the case and that 4/8/16/32 are also options.
  • Rekordbox DJ HID control: coming soon
  • 3 position playback lever: Slip Reverse, Forward, Reverse

"After many years of DJing and having transitioned from the realm of Technics 1200/1210 to digital DJing, I decided to take the leap into CDJ-2K-NXS2 territory. I had grown accustomed to Native Instruments DJ controllers, but grew tired of becoming a "zombie" by spending more time staring at my laptop screen than focusing on the crowd and music. I invested in a pair of XDJ-1000's which were awesome, but I eventually grew out of them citing a need for more flexibility and option. After many weeks of research and lots of communication with DJ TechTools (shoutout to Matias!). I decided to pull the trigger and invest in a pair of CDJ2000-NXS2. I've been satisfied with my purchase since day one and absolutely love the flexibility decks offer. The solid build quality means they will stand the rigors of constant gigging, the sound quality means they'll shine through any system and the plethora of connectivity options–even without a laptop–means I'll always have a backup plan to ensure the music gets played whether it be CD, SD or USB/Ex-SDD. The intuitive GUI and great. My only gripe thus far is an aesthetic one–the faint, blurred "ghosting" that appears behind the scrolling waveform–though I'm confident this is something Pioneer will rectify soon. Speaking of Pioneer, my biggest (and most pleasant) surprise has been the amount of support this unit receives. Pioneer has dropped a new firmware update on a near monthly basis–something that every hardware company should abide by (hint hint Native Instruments). I digress. These decks aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for–in this case, a flagship product. However, if you're DJing for the long haul (ex: have your own LLC/biz, license, insurance, tax ID etc.) and are consistently gigging on a regular basis, then you know the difference between an expense and an investment. Would I recommend these to someone who's dreams of DJ superstardom will more than likely never expand beyond the basement? Of course not. For those looking to invest in a standalone setup for their business that will be showered with continuous updates, a prolonged shelf life and near infinite possibilities, look no further. And for the absolute best deal, hit up DJ TechTools. They gave me a quote that put others to shame and have locked me in as a customer for life. They're DJ's. Not part-time help at a Brick & Mortar store. No games. No bullshit. 5-star service."
