Well worth the money I spent. When you have them in you can solely focus on the music. And it saves your hearing too. I bought a m2 also and those two together are going to be the ultimate monitoring system.

Westone UM Pro 20 Gen 2 In-Ear Monitors

I bought these about a month ago. What really made me interested into switching to in-ear-monitors was that I play in several bars that are notoriously loud--(Savoy was here last week and the guys couldn't believe how loud it was)-- I was worried about hearing loss. I used to use, and still own Pioneer HDJ-2000 over ear monitors and on loud nights, I'd wear Etymotic Ety plugs. The Westone UM2's block out roughly the same amount of ambient noise as the Etymotic plugs, but the sound is so much clearer. On my Rane Sixty-Eight, I usually would have the volume at 5(of 10) and with the UM2s, I rarely go above 2(of 10), it's crazy. I don't think I've worn my HDJ-2000s since I've got these, which is kind of sad because I have 2 pairs of HDJ-2000s. The UM2s are really comfortable, easy to use, and the sound is amazingly clear. Of course they don't have the bass that the HDJ-2000s do, but I can feel the bass from the club so that's not a big deal. One of my complaints with the UM2s, and this is just something inherent with in ear monitors, but they are kind of a pain to put on and take off--compared to over the ear headphones. Its something that gets easier with practice. Once they are on, you are fine. The only other thing is that the cord is a little short for my liking. Other than that I think these are probably one of the best DJing related purchases I have ever made.

A loud club means you need to turn your headphones up louder, potentially damaging your ears.

The noise canceling design of these in ear monitors make it so you'll be cueing to lower levels, thus saving your hearing in the long run. No more next day 'ringing' in your ears and no more scratching itchy ears from sweaty club D.J.ing. not only do the monitors stay put, they look incredibly professional, not like an iPod ear bud set. More like something you'd see a pro wearing on stage.

One thing i would strongly recommend is that a long extension cable or (if you can afford it) wireless transmitter be attached to the very (very) short cord of the in ear monitors. I find that my movement is severely limited without one of these, therefore making the cable which comes attached to the UM2s a major downfall. Also, should you need to hear someone talk to you must take out at least one monitor. This can get SUPER annoying since popping out something which is molding into your ear over and over again takes much more time than slipping on headphones on and off.

Everything else is fantastic! The bass response is good and the highs are never crystalline or screechy.

This monitoring set up is possible the smartest DJ investment i've made for my self since buying cases for my mixer and turntables.
